Usually, this section is full of lip service about mission, culture building, and achieving the impossible. It tends to be the section to brag, push, and put on a mask to portray an image that usually doesn’t align with your values. We will not do this, and we will not waste your time. The below paragraph is as honest as it could get.
The idea of putting this SaaS together started out of frustration. My wife was sitting at her desk, spending nearly two hours gathering receipts from a business trip to then process a reimbursement with her employer. It reminded me of my second job out of college, when I had to scan every receipt, put it into a PDF, and send it for approval. I don’t remember this process ever being easy—one lost receipt was one less reimbursement. But most importantly, it wasted so much time that I could have used doing something I enjoy.
Seeing my wife spend precious hours outside of work processing her reimbursement, I figured I could put my skills to work to automate it for her. At first, the goal was just to help her, but it slowly became bigger—why not offer a service to others who go through the same pain weekly, monthly, or quarterly, giving them back an hour or more of their lives? That’s when this idea became the SaaS it is today.
After a little more than a year of building this app, learning, coding, and testing, I can proudly say I accomplished my goal of creating something end-to-end. I don’t expect this app to be perfect, and neither should you—but it was built with honest hard work and dedication to give you back time… TIME.
I don’t know if this product will go far or not, but I do know I would rather try and fail than let fear and insecurity hold me back. If you’ve read this far, thank you—and hopefully, we can work together moving forward.
